Split into

How it works

Choose a PDF and how to split it: every page as its own PDF, page ranges you type (one PDF per range), or every few pages. To make one PDF from some of the pages, use "Extract pages" or "Delete pages" and type the pages, or tap them in the page list. Several PDFs download together as a ZIP file, or one at a time.

Pages are copied as they are, with their text, fonts, images and links, so they keep their quality, and text you could search or copy before still can be. Links and bookmarks that lead to pages in the same new PDF keep working. The PDFs are made again in your browser after every change, so the download always matches what is shown.

To put PDFs back together, or join pages from several files, use Merge PDF. To make a PDF smaller instead, use Compress PDF.

Questions

How do I split a PDF into separate pages?

Choose the PDF and keep "Every page" selected: each page becomes its own PDF, and they download together as one ZIP file. Nothing is uploaded.

How do I split a PDF into several files by page range?

Choose "Page ranges" and type the ranges, like 1-3, 4-6, 7-. Each range becomes its own PDF; 7- means page 7 to the end. To cut it into parts of the same length, choose "Every few pages" and type how many pages go in each.

Can I extract or delete pages from a PDF?

Yes. "Extract pages" makes one PDF of the pages you type or tap, in the order you type them. "Delete pages" makes one PDF of every page except the ones you choose.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Yes. A PDF that opens without a password but blocks printing or copying is split as it is. For a PDF that needs a password to open, type the password. The new PDFs have no password.

Limits

Opens one PDF of up to 100 MB at a time, and makes up to 1,000 PDFs from it in one go. Every new PDF is kept in memory until you leave the page, so on a phone keep very large files to a few hundred pages. Damaged PDFs that your PDF reader repairs on the fly may not open here.

The new PDFs don't keep file attachments or the document's title and author. Form fields keep what is typed in them, but may no longer be fillable, and links and bookmarks to pages that went in another PDF are removed. Each PDF carries the fonts and images its pages use, so the parts together can be larger than the original. Restrictions on printing or copying set in the original are not carried over, and the new PDFs have no password.

Privacy

This tool runs entirely in your browser. The files you open and what you type are never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page. See the privacy page.
