How it works
This signature generator makes a picture of your signature in three ways. Draw it on the pad with a mouse, a finger or a pen, whose pressure makes the line thinner or thicker. Type your name, and it is written in a flowing, formal or casual handwriting style. Or choose a photo or scan of your signature on paper, and the paper is made transparent, so a signature you wrote by hand becomes a transparent signature PNG.
Choose black, blue or any other colour, and for a drawn or typed signature, how thick the line is. The signature is drawn again at full size as you go and cut out tightly, with only a few pixels of space round the ink, so it sits neatly on a document. Download it as a PNG with a transparent background, or copy it and paste it where you need it. A drawn signature also downloads as an SVG, which stays sharp at any size.
To place it on a document, use Sign PDF, which adds the date and initials too. For fancy text to copy and paste into a bio or post, rather than a picture, use the Font generator.
Questions
How do I create my signature online for free?
Draw it on the pad with a mouse, finger or pen, or type your name and pick one of three handwriting styles. Choose the colour and thickness, then download it as a PNG with a transparent background. There is no account, and nothing you draw or type is uploaded or saved.
Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
No. This page makes an image of a signature, nothing more. A legally binding electronic signature usually also needs a record of who signed what and when, which a picture can't hold. Many everyday forms accept a pasted picture of your signature, but if it matters, ask whoever asked you to sign what they accept.
How do I make a transparent signature PNG from a photo?
Sign a sheet of plain white paper, take a photo of it or scan it, then choose From a photo and pick the picture. The paper is made transparent and the signature cut out tightly, and you can keep the ink's own colour or make it black or blue. The PNG then sits on any page without a white box round it.
Can I add my signature to a PDF, Word document or email?
Yes. To put it on a PDF, use Sign PDF, which takes the same pad and styles, or the PNG you saved here. In Word, Google Docs or Pages, insert the PNG as a picture. In an email app, add it as a picture in the signature settings and type your name and details beside it; this page makes only the handwritten part, not a full email signature.
Limits
The result is an image of a signature, not a digital or certified e-signature: it holds no certificate and no record of who made it or when. Anyone who has the image can paste it anywhere, so keep it where you keep other private files.
Names are up to 60 characters. The flowing style covers Latin letters; the formal and casual styles also cover Cyrillic, and other letters are drawn in your device's own font. A typed signature downloads as a PNG only. Photos of up to 50 MB in PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC work, best with dark ink on plain light paper; lines, shadows and patterned paper may stay in. Nothing is kept: the signature is gone when you leave or reload the page.
