Rotate PDF

Turn every page of a PDF, or only the ones you choose, left, right or upside down, and save it that way. Nothing is re-drawn, and nothing is uploaded.

  • Free, no sign-up

or drop it here. Up to 100 MB. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

Choose a PDF, then which pages to turn: all of them, odd or even pages, portrait or landscape pages, or the pages you type. Press Left or Right for a quarter turn, or Upside down for a half turn. Each page also has its own buttons, and its preview shows how it will look. The PDF is saved again in your browser after every turn, so the download always matches what is shown.

Rotating sets the turn each page is shown with, the same setting a PDF reader changes when you rotate and save. The pages' text, fonts and images are not touched, so nothing is re-compressed, and the document's title, links, bookmarks, form fields and attachments stay as they were.

To take pages out or reorder them, use Split PDF or Merge PDF. To make a PDF smaller, use Compress PDF.

Questions

How do I rotate a PDF and save it?

Choose the PDF, keep "All pages" selected and press Left or Right until the pages are the right way up, then download the PDF. It opens turned that way in every PDF reader. Nothing is uploaded.

Can I rotate only one page of a PDF?

Yes. Every page has its own left and right buttons under its preview. To turn several at once, choose odd or even pages, portrait or landscape pages, or type the pages, like 2, 5-7, and press Left, Right or Upside down.

Does rotating a PDF lower its quality?

No. Each page is only marked with the way it should be turned, as PDF readers do when you rotate and save. Nothing on the page is drawn again, so text stays sharp and searchable, and links, bookmarks and form fields keep working.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Yes. A PDF that opens without a password but blocks printing or copying is rotated as it is. For a PDF that needs a password to open, type the password. The rotated PDF has no password.

Limits

Opens one PDF of up to 100 MB at a time, and keeps the rotated PDF in memory until you leave the page. Damaged PDFs that your PDF reader repairs on the fly may not open here. A page whose content was scanned sideways is turned as a whole: this tool doesn't straighten slightly tilted scans.

The PDF is written out again, so its size can change a little. Restrictions on printing or copying set in the original are not carried over, and the rotated PDF has no password. A digital signature in the PDF shows as no longer valid after any change, rotating included; the page warns you when it finds one.

Privacy

This tool runs entirely in your browser. The files you open and what you type are never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page. See the privacy page.
