Remove EXIF data and location from photos

See and remove the hidden GPS location, camera details and dates in JPEG, PNG and WebP photos. Nothing is uploaded and the image isn't re-compressed.

or drop them here. JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 50 MB each. Nothing is uploaded.

    How it works

Phones and cameras save hidden details inside every photo: often the exact GPS location, the date and time, the camera model and its serial number, and a small preview of the original picture. Anyone you send the file to can read them.

Choose one or more photos and this page lists what it finds, then makes a clean copy with those parts cut out. The image itself is copied byte for byte, not re-compressed, so quality and file size stay the same apart from the removed data. Your original file isn't changed.

Two things are kept on purpose: the rotation flag, so photos taken in portrait still display the right way up, and the colour profile, so colours look the same.

    Limits

Works with JPEG, PNG and WebP files up to 50 MB each, 50 at a time. HEIC and AVIF photos aren't supported yet. On an iPhone, picking photos with the button above normally gives the page a JPEG copy, which works.

Some phones store an HDR boost or portrait depth map as an extra hidden image. That is removed too, so those photos show as standard images and lose depth editing.

Removing metadata doesn't hide what is in the picture itself. Street signs, landmarks, reflections and screens can still show where a photo was taken.
