How it works
Choose a PDF and each page is read for tables: words and figures that line up in columns over several lines. Lines drawn between rows and columns are used where the PDF has them, and a description wrapped over two lines stays in one cell. A table that carries on over the next page, like a bank statement, becomes one table, with a repeated header dropped.
Figures become numbers Excel can sum: 1,234.50, 1.234,50, $45, (120) for a negative amount, and 15% as a percentage. Codes and IDs with leading zeros stay as written. Every table is shown before you download, with figures lined up on the right, so you can see that each one came out right and untick any you don't want. The workbook has a sheet for each table, named after its page, or all of them on one sheet.
Need the text instead of a spreadsheet? The PDF to text converter copies all of it. Already have a CSV file? The CSV to Excel converter turns it into a workbook.
Questions
How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
Choose the PDF or drop it on the page. Every table found is shown so you can check it, and Download .xlsx saves them as an Excel workbook, a sheet for each table, with amounts as numbers you can add up. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel?
Yes, if the statement was made by the bank's system, as most downloaded statements are. Each transaction becomes a row, with dates, descriptions and amounts in their own columns, and a statement running over several pages becomes one table. A statement that was printed and scanned can't be read here.
Why are no tables found in my PDF?
Either the PDF is a scan or a photo, which holds pictures of text rather than text (reading those takes OCR, which this tool doesn't do), or its text isn't laid out in columns. The page says which: a PDF with no text at all is almost always a scan.
Is it safe to convert PDF tables to Excel online?
Here the PDF never leaves your device: your browser reads it and writes the spreadsheet, and the page works offline once loaded. That matters for statements and invoices. A PDF locked with a password asks for it, and the password stays on the page.
Limits
Only PDFs with real text work: ones saved from a program, like downloaded statements, invoices and reports. Scanned pages and photos of documents hold pictures of text, which this tool doesn't read (no OCR).
Tables with one row of column names and clear columns come out best. Headers spread over several rows with cells merged across columns come out as one header row, and are the place to check first; tables set side by side on a page can come out as one wide table, and a table with very little space between its columns can lose a column. Text that isn't a table, like a letter or a page of paragraphs, is left out. Charts and pictures of tables have no text to read.
Opens one PDF of up to 100 MB at a time. A PDF whose author turned off copying its text isn't read, as in Adobe Acrobat. Formulas, colours and cell borders aren't copied, only the values.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. The files you open and what you type are never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page. See the privacy page.
